Curt obtained
his undergraduate training at Loyola University in Los Angeles, CA, and
received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Upon
graduation from law school, he was appointed judge of the Second Municipal
Court for Lincoln County, WI, and served in that capacity until the Court
Reorganization Act of 1961 abolished the position.
From 1962 until 1964 Curt was an assistant district attorney for Dane
County, WI. In 1964 he entered private practice.
Since 1964, Curt has concentrated his practice in the areas of plaintiff’s
personal injury, including auto accidents, products liability, medical
and legal malpractice and worker’s compensation cases.
One of Curt’s more noteworthy cases involved a six-week jury trial
against General Motors. His client was a passenger in a Corvair automobile
that went out of control during a low-speed turn and rolled over, causing
serious injury to her. The verdict Curt obtained for his client was the
only case ever won against General Motors for negligent design of the
Corvair.
He is a charter member of the American Board of Trial Advocates; a past
president of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers; a past member of
the board of directors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America;
certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy;
and a member of the Negligence Section of the American Bar Association.
Over his legal career, Curt has spoken extensively at trial seminars for
other lawyers, taught trial practice at the UW Law School, and lectured
medical groups and insurance adjusters on various aspect of personal injury
law.
For the last three years he has served as moderator for the American Board
of Trial Attorneys’ annual trial seminar held in Milwaukee, WI.
A former United States Marine and combat veteran of the Korean War, Curt
embodies a tough generation that values hard work to achieve goals and
understands his duty to help people in times of need.
He has been voted one of Madison’s “Best Personal Injury Lawyers”
in three separate polls conducted by Madison Magazine over an 18-year
period and he is also one of only 1,880 lawyers in the United States who
has been listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” for 20 consecutive
years since the first publication in 1983.
Curt currently has a state-wide practice in the personal injury and medical
malpractice fields. Over his legal career he has achieved millions of
dollars in settlements and verdicts for injured clients who sought his
services.
When he is not settling or trying cases, Curt enjoys spending time with
his wife and son, deep sea fishing, and hunting birds with his two English
setters.
